About PeopleAhead and the information we collect
PeopleAhead™ is a growing online destination that uses intelligent TrueMatch® technology to present relevant career opportunities to experienced professionals and provide qualified candidates to recruiters–without endless resume and job-posting searches. (the PeopleAhead Service). The PeopleAhead Service is offered to PeopleAhead users who are looking for a job, developing professionally or building relationships with other professionals and to PeopleAhead
We have created this Privacy Policy to demonstrate our dedication to protecting your personal information and informing you about how we handle it. This privacy policy only applies to transactions and activities in which you engage, and data gathered, on PeopleAhead ("PeopleAhead", "PeopleAhead.com", the "site" or "website", the "PeopleAhead Service", or "Service") through TrueMatch® candidate requests conducted on behalf of our Business Partners, system communications between PeopleAhead.com users (collectively, the "Site") or via email distribution by or on the behalf of PeopleAhead by Site users, but does not apply to any other Website or offline point of contact between PeopleAhead, or any other company, and consumers. Please review this privacy policy periodically as we may modify it from time to time. Each time you visit the site or provide us with information, by doing so you are accepting the practices described in this privacy policy at that time.
Information Collected
Your Personally Identifiable Information Collected by PeopleAhead:
In order to become a PeopleAhead user, you must first create an account on this web site. To create an account you are required to provide Personally Identifiable Information, including: name, email address, phone number country, ZIP/postal code, and choose a password.
Registered users may provide additional information in their PeopleAhead career Profile (Profile) and Plan sections of this website describing professional experiences, and professional development plan. Providing additional Personally Identifiable Information beyond what is required at registration is entirely optional, however, this may limit our ability to provide you with a specific service or particular content.
Note for LinkedIn members: Your LinkedIn Profile contains personally identifiable information about your career. This information can be used to match you to career opportunities that may be relevant to you. If you choose to provide to PeopleAhead your primary LinkedIn email address and password during the registration or post-registration process, PeopleAhead will use the information in your LinkedIn Profile to show you preliminary (Pre Match) opportunities. PeopleAhead will also pre-populate your PeopleAhead Profile using this information. PeopleAhead cannot be responsible for the accuracy of this information, so be sure to review your Profile.
In order to invite others to connect with you directly in PeopleAhead, you will enter their names and email addresses. This information will be used by PeopleAhead to send your invitation and in some cases, a message that you write or confirm. The email addresses of people that you invite will be used only to send your invitation and reminders.
You may also choose to manually enter or upload data about others into the Network and Blog section of this website. All information entered there may be viewable by others. Who may view this information depends on the relationship you have defined on PeopleAhead and is defined in this document under the section title, “Use of your Personally Identifiable Information by PeopleAhead”. All information that you enter or upload about your contacts will be covered by the same terms of this privacy policy as cover your own personally identifiable information.
Profile Types
PeopleAhead is a service that helps users build relationships with others and be matched with career opportunities. A valuable part of this service is the ability to share career-oriented information on this website. It is important to understand what information you are sharing and with whom. There are two types of information Profiles available to you on PeopleAhead, your Networking Profile and your Full Profile. A brief summary of the information contained in each and the people with whom the information contained there-in is shared is described below:
Networking Profile: Your Networking Profile is a snapshot of the information in your Full Profile. Your Networking Profile is viewable by your Contacts (and people you invite as Contacts) and any person who participates in a private or public group of which you are also a participant. You can see how your Networking Profile looks by clicking the “Preview Networking Profile” tab at the top of the Profile section in PeopleAhead.
Full Profile: Your Full Profile contains your contact information, the detailed information you include in your career Profile, as well as “My Accomplishments to Date” in your career Plan if you choose to include them (by selecting the check box). Your Full Profile is viewable by people you invite as and/or people who accept to be your Advisors, Mentors, Talent Specialists, Potential Employers and by any Employer who opens a career opportunity to which you apply. You can see how your Full Profile looks by clicking the “Preview Networking Profile” tab at the top of the Profile section in PeopleAhead.
Note: People you invite as and/or people who accept to be your Advisors, Mentors and Talent Specialists can also view your career Plan and your career Blog. Employers (Potential Employers and Employers to whose career opportunities you apply) will never see your career Plan or your Blog.
Nowhere on the Site do we knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16, as we require that all users represent to us that they are at least 16 years old.
Cookies : PeopleAhead wants to optimize your experience by ensuring that the most relevant information, content, searches and offers are displayed to you while using the PeopleAhead web site. A common manner in which to do this is by placing cookies on your computer. Cookies are strings of text and numbers that can identify your computer to us when you visit our site, and which may be correlated with your Personally Identifiable Information in our log files.
IPAddress: We log standard information such as your IP address along with the URL from which you came to our site and the URLs visited on our site, which may or may not contain some Personally Identifiable Information. When we send messages to you or others, we may provide a URL link to the PeopleAhead site that contains an alphanumeric identifier, which allows us to identify the person to whom we sent the message so that we can personalize our content for that individual.
PixelTags: PeopleAhead uses pixel tags to gather information about the emails we send to our registered users and to recipients of messages. Pixel tags are tiny graphic files, not visible to the human eye, that are included in our HTML-encoded email messages. When such a message is opened in an HTML-capable email program, the recipient's computer will access our server to retrieve the pixel tag file, allowing us to record and store, along with your email address, the date and time the recipient viewed the invite or reminder, that the recipient's email program is capable of receiving HTML-encoded email, and other standard logging information. The pixel tag also may see or read cookies. For more information about cookies and how to disable their use, see the section below on "Use of Cookies."
Your Personally Identifiable Information Collected by PeopleAhead’s Business Partners:
- PeopleAhead works with employers, talent specialists, third-party advertising companies, sponsors and other companies with whom we do business ("Business Partners") to place relevant information on our site and in email communications sent to our registered users and to recipients of career opportunities, position recommendations, introductions and other communications related to the PeopleAhead Service. Information about your visit to this site, such as number of times you have viewed, applied, recommended, or been recommended for career opportunities may be used to serve relevant content to you.
- Recipients of TrueMatch® career opportunities have the option to apply, recommend or forward the job on to people they know. When you apply, you are granting permission to PeopleAhead to share your contact information and full Profile with the employer offering the opportunity. If you recommend or forward an opportunity, your contact information will be shared with recommendation and email recipients, but not with the employer offering the opportunity. Your personally identifiable information is not shared with any employer until you choose to apply. This lets you remain anonymous during your job search process.
- PeopleAhead may correlate or match registered user information, including Personally Identifiable Information, with information held by our Business Partners to target content or otherwise improve the effectiveness of our service. Our Business Partners may read or set cookies on your hard drive, use pixel tags, track which content you have viewed and/or acted upon, or collect other information about you.
- PeopleAhead may also offer goods or services for purchase available by our Business Partners. If you purchase goods or services offered through PeopleAhead by a Business Partner, then you may be required to submit Personally Identifiable Information in order to complete the transaction and PeopleAhead may provide your Personally Identifiable Information to such Business Partner for that purpose.
Use of your Personally Identifiable Information by PeopleAhead:
- If you choose to join PeopleAhead you will be required to register with the Personally Identifiable Information including: name, email address, phone number country, ZIP/postal code, and a password.
- You will also be able to enter information regarding your experience, interests, competencies, development plan and accomplishments as part of your career Profile and Plan. This information is used to help you plan and share career-related objectives, be recommended and receive feedback. PeopleAhead will use information from your Profile to match you with the right career opportunities. You may choose to share with Employers specific information in your Plan (My Accomplishments to Date) as part of your Profile but this information is not part of the opportunity-matching process. Providing additional Personally Identifiable Information beyond what is required at registration is entirely optional, however, this may limit our ability to provide you with a specific service or particular content.
- We use the collected Personally Identifiable Information to verify you and to contact you in connection with your transactions, applications and other activities on the site, to forward to you messages from other Users, to communicate with you about career opportunities of interest to you and to operate the PeopleAhead service.
- Other users will only be able to view your personally identifiable information with your permission. Your information will be shared if you:
- Accept users as Contacts in your Network or join a Public or Private Group. Contacts and Group participants in groups you join can view your name, Networking Profile (snapshot of your Plan) and send you private messages through the PeopleAhead system. Contacts cannot view your contact information.
- Invite or accept users you know as Advisors or Mentors in your Network. Your Advisors, and Mentors can view your contact information (name, email address, phone number), your Plan, your Full Profile, as well as view and contribute to your Blog.
- Invite Potential Employers to your Network. Potential Employers can view your contact information (name, email address, phone number) and your Full Profile and “My Accomplishments to Date” from your Plan if you choose to make this viewable
- Invite or accept users you know as Talent Specialists. Talent Specialists can view your contact information (name, email address, phone number), your Plan your Full Profile, as well as view and contribute to your Blog. Talent Specialists may also be able to track your progress when you apply to an opportunity for which they have recommended you.
- Apply for a TrueMatch® career opportunity. When you apply for a career opportunity you grant PeopleAhead Business Partners the right to view your contact information (name, email address, phone number) and your Full Profile, including “My Accomplishments to Date” if you choose to make this viewable.
PeopleAhead reserves the right to distribute your Networking Profile or parts thereof in marketing materials and communications in the media, in publications online and offline.
PeopleAhead may from time to time use information in your Profile to match you to career opportunities or suggest aligned groups you might want to join. Once presented with the opportunity, you can choose whether to make contact with the matched groups or act on the career opportunity. Your Personally Identifiable information will not be shared without your permission.
- PeopleAhead may capture applications, recommendations, introductions and other activity conducted by you on the PeopleAhead Service in order to provide relevant content and services.
- Each communication we send to you, other than communications sent to you for the sole purpose of addressing a technical or operational issue regarding the PeopleAhead service, will give you the opportunity to opt-out of receiving further such communications from us.
- Use of our invitation service to add users to your Network, tell someone you know about our site or a career opportunity, to participate in a referral chain, or to request a competency evaluation requires that you enter the email addresses of those people. We will automatically send the person you know a one-time email inviting him or her to respond to your communication. PeopleAhead stores this information to send this one-time email, to register a connection if your invitation is accepted, and to track the success of the PeopleAhead service. The person you know may contact us at service@PeopleAhead.com to request that we remove this information from view in our active database (Please use PeopleAhead Privacy in the subject line).
- PeopleAhead uses your Personally Identifiable Information to help us provide you with personalized content, advertising, and commercial messages (collectively, "Content").
- PeopleAhead does not sell, share or otherwise provide any "Personally Identifiable Information" you give to us with any Business Partner without your consent, which may be obtained through an opt-in request (see Use of Personally Identifiable Information by Business Partners below), unless required by law, court order or as required to technically operate the service, or to complete a transaction or order.
- PeopleAhead does reserve the right to share your Personally Identifiable Information with its parent, subsidiary or affiliated entities ("affiliated entities" are those companies owned or controlled by PeopleAhead’s parent company).
Use of your Personally Identifiable Information by Other Users:
- Other users will be able to view your personally identifiable information as described in the section of this Privacy Policy titled, “Use of your Personally Identifiable Information by PeopleAhead”
- Other users may choose to contact you. However, to ensure your privacy, PeopleAhead will not display or give out your email address or any other contact information to other users on the site without your permission. We use a “blind” communication system, which hides the email addresses of both the sender and recipient of email and system messages to protect the privacy of both the sender and receiver until you accept another user as an Advisor, Mentor, Potential Employer, Talent Specialist or until you apply to a career opportunity. When using the process on the site, you choose when you are comfortable disclosing your email address, or any other contact information to others and therefore accept users to the roles defined above.
• Similarly, you may contact other users on the site, and PeopleAhead will hide your contact information on the site until you accept them to the roles defined above.
Use of Your Personally Identifiable Information by PeopleAhead’s Business Partners:
- Business Partners using PeopleAhead to send their career opportunities to you will receive your contact information only if you apply. In all cases, the employer using PeopleAhead to contact you is subject to this Privacy Policy. And, you may at any time choose to opt out of receiving further communication from this employer via PeopleAhead. However, even if PeopleAhead blocks further use of your contact information, PeopleAhead cannot prevent employers who have obtained your name and contact information from contacting you directly. PeopleAhead recommends contacting the employer directly if you wish to opt-out of further communication.
- In order to provide other offers of particular interest to you, PeopleAhead may share demographic, geographic, and other Personally Identifiable Information with its Business Partners with your explicit consent (opt-in).
PLEASE NOTE: The privacy practices of advertisers and other companies who provide services or content through our site are not covered by this privacy policy. Please contact those companies directly for more information about their privacy practices. If you wish to prevent those companies from setting cookies on your browser, you may set your browser to refuse cookies or to warn you before setting a cookie. Disabling cookies set by companies whose products or services are advertised on this site may affect your ability to use this site.
When We May Disclose Your Personally Identifiable Information, PeopleAhead Communications Content,
Data and Information
PeopleAhead may disclose your Personally Identifiable Information or the contents of your private communications if required to do so by law or court order. Your Personally Identifiable Information may also be disclosed if necessary in order to complete a transaction such as the fulfillment of an order or purchase placed by you.
PeopleAhead will in no way disclose the contents of your PeopleAhead communications other than to the intended recipient(s) unless required (1) by law or court order, (2) to protect PeopleAhead’s rights and property, (3) to protect against unauthorized use of the PeopleAhead site, and (4) during emergencies such as when we believe someone's physical safety is at risk.
Also, certain technical processing of messages and their content may be required to: (1) send and receive messages; (2) conform to connecting networks' technical requirements; (3) conform to the limitations of the Service; or (4) conform to other similar requirements.
It is possible that as we continue to develop the PeopleAhead website and business, PeopleAhead and/or related assets may be acquired. In such a transaction, customer information may be transferred to the acquiring entity.
Security
This site has industry standard security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and integrity of the information under our control. Although we make good faith efforts to store the information collected by the PeopleAhead service in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public, we cannot guarantee complete security.
Other Websites or Links
This Website contains links to other websites. PeopleAhead is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites.
Opt-Out/Correct/Delete/Deactivate
You may elect not to receive future communications from PeopleAhead or to discontinue use of our service. If you are a registered user, please log in and visit your settings on the “Account Preferences” page of the website and uncheck the box related to sending information to you via email.
If you have previously made contact (by expressing interest in a career opportunity, or participating in communication, or referring someone else for a position) with PeopleAhead’s Business Partners, you must independently opt-out of communications from that individual company.
Individuals who wish to deactivate their PeopleAhead account may do so. Removed information may persist in backup or cached copies for a reasonable period of time but will not be generally available to any user of PeopleAhead.
PeopleAhead allows its users the option to change information previously provided. This may be done through the following method:
- Log in to the PeopleAhead site, access your Profile, Plan or Blog pages. From here you can answer, delete, update or change any content that you have previously submitted.
Changes to this Policy
PeopleAhead reserves the right to amend this Privacy Commitment at its sole discretion. If we make any substantive changes to the policy in the future with regard to how we use your information, we will notify registered users via email. For other users, substantive changes will be posted on the site in this location, and the date of the changes will be noted on the Web site for a period of time.
Your continued use of the site after the changes are posted constitutes your agreement to the changes with regard to information collected in the past and in the future from you. If you do not agree to the changes, you may opt-out as described above.
